The humorous names of "o-matic" kitchen gadgets and their sometimes
odd functions and design, generate an appeal which still grows in this
generation. I have long felt the romantic notion of the artist working
at the "turn of the century" and the histtoric function of artist to bridge
one century to another. I now watch the lowly kitchen gadget of old
mature into a new object d' art.  The re-design and the re-naming of the
same implement possibly represents sign or a notion there is nothing
new to invent.
